I think I'd like to make a plus size summer look book, but with my work schedule I'm not sure when I'll have time. Oh! On Friday I have a hair appointment I'm not doing anything crazy just a touch up because my hair is in desperate need!! Until then have a great day!! CorinaH

San Diego Day 4

Saturday, June 4th
On the last day of our trip we took our time getting ready and packing. Once we checked out of our hotel we didn't have any plans so my dad said how about we go to the lighthouse. I had visited the lighthouse once before when we went to San Diego to visit with my godparents. There was a entrance fee just a heads up if you plan to visit it's a reasonable fee per vehicle. It was a bit overcast in the morning, but the weather was still nice compared to the heat back home.
There is a gift shop with a video playing with the history of the monument. My dad lives for all things history so we had a seat and watched the video for a little while. In the gift shop we picked up a lighthouse magnet to add to my moms magnet collection.
Also in the gift shop is some very heavy old style armor for a photo set up that has a backdrop.
Taking in the fact that it was a Saturday and summer vacation has started the monument was a little packed, but still enjoyable.
Due to the overcast it was very hard to look up at my mom who was standing on the bench taking the picture.... haha
With my zoom lens I was able to watch the seagulls following the boat from afar it looked like the seagulls we attacking the people.
We were a little to tired (lazy) to walk up to the lighthouse this time.
After soaking in the views from the Cabrillo Monument we decided to head home, but my mom still wanted some of the plants we had been seeing all over town. So, we took a drive around town just looking an I told my mom just get off and knock on someone's door to see if they'll jut give you one. Both of them said no and as we were driving down a street we saw a man outside his yard doing some gardening so we pulled over. My mom got of the car to go ask where in town you could find these plants and the man said it must be her birthday because he was going to give her one and she could choose. Oh boy was she excited!
Stephen saw that I was taking pictures and asked if it was a video because he sings and would sing for us. He signs in town at local bars and lounges. Here is the video. Enjoy!
We then started our journey back home making a stop in San Clemente to pick up burritos from La Tiendita. Oh some exciting news about La Tiendita they are adding a juice bar so next time we visit it'll be up and running!
When we reached the Grapevine we needed to make a rest stop and their is a Goodwill store my mom like to visit because she says they always have good furniture for cheap. We saw a few neat pieces, but nothing we couldn't live without. On our way out we came across this little rocking horse that was pretty sturdy for only $5 so of coarse he came home with us.
The rocking horse was turned into a plant holder.

I'm so sad that our trip has come and gone so quickly!! I can't wait to go back and get away from this heat. I hope you guys enjoyed seeing our trip. Until next time, CorinaH

San Diego Day 3

Friday, June 3rd
Graduation Day!
On Friday morning we woke up early, got ready, and headed onto base. We got there a little early so we waited about 30min for a Starbucks that we eventually gave up on because the line was getting nowhere. From there we meet up with my brother (who had just gotten off of work after being in the field training with his LAV) to go find our seats in the bleachers.
Once we reached our seat we came across our family and some of their friends that had driven up the night before to make it. We then settled into our seats and waited for the graduation to begin.
Tip: #1 If you don't want to sit in the beaming sun get their early to get shade!
Tip: #2 If you want a front row view of you marine when they pass by get there early!.
This bulldogs name is Sir. Smedley Butler named after a general I believe.
He stands for the Marine Corps mascot.
Finally the moment we had all been waiting for all the marines marched in formation and the ceremony began.
Once they dismissed the marines we stuck around taking pictures and saying our congrats, but before we knew it they were telling everyone to clear out and head to their cars. So we separated from the  group and headed to Old Town to grab lunch with my brother because he was going to be headed back to town right after. Once we were seated and had order our food the rest of the group showed up to the same restaurant. Once they were seated we picked up our plates and joined them.
This is the view from the second floor of Café Coyote where the restroom are located. Café Coyote has lots of outdoor and indoor seating with nice decorations which make for great pictures. haha
Attached to Café coyote are gift shops and a big candy store I'm not sure if it is owned by the café or just happens to be attached.
The carne asada fries were bomb I wasn't able to eat much because I had an upset stomach.
After lunch we headed on our search for pottery that my mom had been wanting.
We drove to a few near by towns but were having no luck. We googled a few places one which ended up being across the boarder but, we weren't prepared to cross. I feel asleep after our search wasn't getting anywhere, but before I knew it I was being woken up to pots being loaded into the truck. Success! My mom found three pots to bring back home. The last thing on her check list were some plants that we had been seeing all over San Diego.
Next time we'll have our passports ready to cross and buy more pots! Unfortunately, when we were done with our search we called to find out that some family things had been stolen out of the parking garage at Café Coyote so a heads up if you plan on eating in Old Town. I would park outside in public viewing. A big congratulations to my cousin Zack on his accomplishment!! Semper Fi

San Diego Day 2

Thursday, June 2nd
My San Diego Trip Day 2
Our day started off at the hotel breakfast buffet because free food is best on a vacation budget. haha
In the morning we had a few hours before we could visit my cousin so to pass time we went to a garden nursery nearby. However, finding it was a task my mom remembered she saw one the day before while we were driving around but we had little to go off of. She said, "it was by the bridge, I can remember seeing it from higher ground." ha that made it hard but, after driving in a few circles we came across it.  The Armstrong Garden Center was really big with lots of vibrant pottery and loads of plants. My mom decided not to buy anything yet because we had a few more days and we didn't want to be driving around with pots and plants in the trunk.
My outfit: dress forever 21, jean jacket Walmart, and sandals payless shoe.
In the garden center they had a lot of cool iron work from an Australian designer we found a few we wanted but, that calls for more saving.
Lastly but, surely not the least from the garden center we found my dream indoor tree! I'm not sure if its meant to be indoors but that's where I'd like it to be. Isn't it beautiful?! If anyone needs any ideas for my birthday gift this year I would love this tree and I don't mind if it's a baby tree either.
Once we were done at the garden center we headed over to the MCRD and we still had a little time so we popped into the MCX. Before we knew it the time had come to head over to watch the new marines get dismissed for liberty. They give the new marines a few hours the day before graduation day to spend time on base with their family and friends.
These yellow boot prints are where many recruits line up and walk these hallways daily. At the end of the hallway there is a blacktop with more yellow boot prints here I tried being serious in my attempt to line up. However, it was to difficult with my dad laughing at me I couldn't help but laugh too.

If you are trying to get a front row view of your marine marching in my advice is getting there 30min plus because it gets packed! The picture is deceiving because right after everyone lined up.
Standing there waiting for my cousin I couldn't help but, remember just a few years ago when we stood in that exact place waiting to see my brother. The excitement that feels you because its been four month since you last seen them but, it feels like forever!!
While they're lined up you scope the group trying to find your marine so that the minute they say dismissed fallout you know exactly where to run. An that's exactly what happens the crowd goes wild in the most heart warming way. The sight of families reuniting with happy tears and warm hugs you just can't help but, to have a smile the whole time.
Afterwards we headed to dominoes to have some lunch and their was a line but after about 10 minutes that place was packed. There at dominoes we pushed two tables together and ate while catching up, hearing all the experiences they had. It's amazing that this event happens every Thursday all year long! All year long families get to come to this restaurant and look with big googly eyes at their babies who are now grown men that they couldn't be any prouder of.
lol excuse my foochie face below I can't help it okay, maybe I can try harder to handle it! Grrr*
Since 2002 maybe I started collecting imprinted pennies wherever we visit and I'm so glad they finally got a MCRD penny machine now I can add more to my collection. My collecting started when we visited Florida on a family vacation and my first penny is from Disney World from there on it has grown into two collector's books.
Before liberty was over we left a little early to give them some quality family alone time and we where headed back to our hotel room. On our way back my dad said with the sun about to set it would be a good time to visit a city outlook which was right next to hotel circle. The site ended up being a Mormon Battalion Historic site with a little park area. We walked up some stairs and found a neat mural it was nice to see taggers had left it graffiti free. The city view was amazing!
After soaking in the view we headed back to the room to have a little rest which ended up being a little longer than expected. At almost 8pm we left our room to have go have dinner in Old Town. Before we decided where to eat we walked down the road to have a look at all the night time lights. The night life is pretty neat with a lot of gift shops open late it makes for a nice night stroll.
I saw this soap shop but they had just closed when we walked by but next time I plan on going in because they had some amazing looking soaps. HA it probably sounds like I'm obsessed with soap seeing how I went to Lush just the day before. Soap is something you'll always use hopefully you do! haha so why not make it fun instead of a boring bar of soap.
One restaurant caught our eye where they were making fresh tortillas in the window. The display was convincing enough so we agreed to go in. The chips and salsa were okay but the tortillas is where is was at for sure!

The night time lights were at there prime viewing and my dad recommend that we drive across the Coronado Bridge. It was a perfect photo opportunity however, me being very unexperienced with my camera I couldn't manage to capture a good shot. We finished the night with trying to capture a photo of the Coronado Bridge which was a fail.
By this time it was getting cold so we headed back to our room to get some sleep because the next morning we needed to wake up early for Graduation!! I hope you guys are enjoying a little peak into our trip. CorinaH
