As you may have read in my other blog, my brother is deployed. I can't image how hard it must be to be away from home for so long . We can help a little by showing how much we care. I decided to go with the TMNT theme because it was a cartoon my brother liked when he was younger and I thought maybe it would bring a smile to him. I had a little look around on pinterest at all the other care package ideas. I also looked on instagram at all the hash tags regarding deployment care packages to get some ideas. As a scrap booker and slight paper hoarder as my mom would say I didn't have to buy anything for these box decorations.
I started by printing an image and traced it onto colored cardstock.
Then I had to make a pizza of course. What would a ninja turtle box be without some pizza.
Its not the number one pizza but it will do.
Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo. |
I found that taking a 12x12 scrapbook paper and cutting it in half can be used to cover two flaps of the box. The halves can also be used in the inside walls of the box. A whole 12x12 paper covers the bottom of the box.
Here are just some of the few snacks I packed. I also bought some more like pizza pringle sticks, raisins, cheddar pringles, bean dip, chapstick, gum, and cough drops. They may not mix well together but he can always use it with other snacks he receives or already has. It was also pretty hard to find pizza and ninja turtle snacks.
The green tissue paper reminded me of a turtle shell in a way. Hopefully the tissue will keep everything neat. But some of the boxes that have made it so far are said to be pretty banged up.
Under the tissue lies a surprise of turtle themed snacks and some plates just incase. Plus they were themed so why not.
I hope that this can give you an idea of some things to send to a brother, friend, husband, or someone you know who maybe be deployed/long distance. I'll try to write when I find out what was a hit or didn't survive the trip. As always thank you, CorinaH
