Summer wedding +random

Hello everyone! This week went by so fast, it's been a busy one if I do say so. Work has been a little crazy with summer break, people taking vacations and the heat is just beginning to reach the triple digits here in the valley. Saturday I worked an eight hour shift and there was a couple I knew getting married at six in the evening. That morning I was getting all my stuff together running around behind time. I hurried out the door to realize I had ran out in a tank top! Completely forgotten my t-shirt inside the house. Embarrassing indeed but I still managed to get to work on time. After my shift I changed over at work and headed straight to the church I got there at the beginning of the reception just in time to catch the beautiful sunset. The theme was a Hawaiian luau inspiration. Here are a few pictures I got before my phone and camera died, what a fail.

(p.s. orchids are one of my favorite flowers)

On Sunday morning I went with my parents out of town to promote a summer camp for boys. I just tagged along for the ride. Before we arrived we had a little Panera stop. I had the French toast bagel with wild blueberry cream cheese it was delicious. Yumm-O

I hope you all had a wonderfully weekend.  CorinaH

A mini haul

Happy Wednesday everyone! I recently stopped by Home Goods for a little styling inspiration. I went with no intention to buy but, who are we kidding I cant help myself when I am in there. So here is a mini haul of what I bought.

"If you like pina~coladas or dancing in the rain"
the pineapple was $9.99 it seems a little to much but the quality is pretty good and its a timeless summer piece.

This platter was also $9.99 the color is showing a little different. I think it would add a nice pop of color at a summer get together.

Last minute treasure find, I was making a bee line for the register when I saw this and just couldn't bear to leave it. $16.99 Something about it just says Summertime. I cant wait to style it somewhere.

I also picked up a new toy for Copper, he seems to have misplaced all his other toys. $3.99 As you can see he's already taken a liking to his chicken friend

Well that's all for now. I did get many ideas to redecorate so if and when I do I'll make sure to post it.

Lunch Date

One of my favorite places for lunch in town would have to be Panera hands down. (well I haven't had lunch many places in town but at the moment it wins ) Today we had a break in between appointments so me, my mom, my sister, and my sister-in-law stopped by for lunch. We sat outside the weather was nice and sunny. (my best friend introduced me to Panera, pssst... you know who you are, thank you ;)

My sister-in-law had the bagel w/fruit and a tea
Me and my sister had the bacon turkey bravo sandwich with baked potato soup. A little over bored but its not like we have it often. Plus who cares right? Well now I'm headed off to work. I hope you all are have a nice Monday until next time. CorinaH

Puppy Buddies

This is just a quick post from Friday night. My cousin invited me and Copper over to her house to meet Ace. Copper is always very excited to meet new puppy friends. So much that he doesn't like to listen to me. He surely is the trouble maker of the bunch. We will have to work on that. It wasn't a long visit because I had a early work day the next morning but they got to meet each other and get acquainted for next time.

Ace, Copper, Meeko, and Mia

  • Ace is a Golden Retriever
Ace and copper meeting for the first time.
  • Meeko is a Pomeranian
  • Mia is a Pomeranian
  • Copper is a mix  (many people say he looks like a mini golden retriever)

Copper was so tired he slept the whole ride home. We look forward to more puppy hangouts in the future.
( p.s. if your trying to get four dogs to line up and sit for a picture, it probably won't work if you have a Copper in the mix.)
Sorry it was a short one, Hope you all enjoy.

Hope

So I debated about writing/posting this but I thought why not? Maybe it could help someone going through the same situation. This past weekend I had just got off work when I found out my dad had taken my mom to the ER. I went down as soon as I could. (Just a few weeks ago we found out that my mom had a relapse in breast cancer after 8 years.) She went to the ER with shortness of breath. They did a CT scan and found she had cancer spread through out, they wanted to take a full CT scan as the had only done the chest. So she was admitted to the hospital for chest pain and to await for a second CT scan.
The next morning, my sister and I went back early to the hospital to keep my mom company while she waited for the second CT scan. Me and my sister had went down to the hospital cafeteria before we went up stairs just to get a drink. As we were finishing up and heading upstairs the hospital chapel came over the speakers and read a morning psalm 121 it says "I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber."
Lights in the cafeteria (they just caught my eye)
We were expecting to see an oncologist but one had not arrived by the time of the second CT scan so they did the second scan. Awaiting the results was nerve racking. while waiting we had a lot of family stopping by showing their support.

When we finally received the results they weren't good, we found out my mothers cancer had spread further than we thought. We found out that she had several masses. The truth is its never easy to accept that someone you love so dearly could be so sick, it may scare us even just the thought of losing them but the Lord is always with us to comfort us no matter what. We spent the rest of the day there just spending quality family time. The next morning we did the same, woke up early and went to the hospital to be by our mothers side. Then the on call doctor had paid a visit to her and said the next step would be to see a specialist Monday morning so they discharged her that afternoon so she could go home and be comfortable.
All awhile I had been reading a book "Apart at the Seams" by Marie Bostwick and while reading it I came across a part that read the same psalm 121 that I had heard the chapel of the hospital speak that morning after the ER. It was a different translation but yet the same " I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth."
It just amazes me that no matter what trials you may be going through the Lord always has a hand on you watching over you, to be your strength, and your comfort.
This week we have been going to the cancer center almost everyday to go over the plans and start treatments. Though we may not see what God's plan is for us, we trust him to lead us. I'm not telling you all this so you can feel sorry for us but rather keep us in your prayers. May this be a small reminder to keep your faith and trust in him for he will never leave us nor forsake us.

Summertime Fun

(the flamingo is from the dollar store, flower homemade, food covers is stuff I already had)
flowers are from the 99cent store
About three weekends ago I had a pool party for some of my cousins. When planning for it I thought about a theme. I went with a Hawaiian luau. The goal for that day was to have a good time and just hangout. I decided I wanted to go all out (well as much as possible.) So I did a shopping trip to scope out what their was with all the new summer stuff in stores. I saved up and went on a bit of a splurge. I didn't know what to make to eat I had expected it to be hot and well with all the swimming to be had, I figured something light and refreshing would be nice (croissant sandwiches and fruit.) I already had some party decorations from a past time when I had planned to throw a pool party but just never got around to. With the new stuff I bought and with the old I put this together :) I hope you all enjoy. Here is a link to the video.

Lanterns above are from the dollar store

A nice blue pool is a plus (;

The day turned out nice, the water was a bit cold but it warmed up fast. I had a great time spending the day with my family.

The Love of a Pet

During the fall last year I lost my dear friend Amelia,

( yes, I named her after Amelia Earhart I had done a report on her my senior year of high school and her name stuck with me.) After the loss of my dog I was heart broken. So I decided to wait on another pet, until I was much older or had my own place. But, things don't always go as you plan.

For a few months my sister had been looking for a dog for her family. I joined her on a few trips to the shelters (ASPCA) and some others here locally in town. But they either didn't have puppies available or they were all on hold for families already. So after all the failed attempts at adoption, she found one online that was available. The owner had said that he was 4 months and eating solid foods. So it was a done deal, my sister couldn't stand to disappoint her kids anymore with all the failed attempts at the shelters.  We went and picked him up that week, its very hard to not fall in love with puppies they are so small, cute, and just so precious.
We took him straight to the vet just to make sure everything was okay. After we took him home, the kids were very excited to have him and play with him(he could only hang for like 30mins before he was asleep like most puppies.) After time it showed maybe he was just a little to small for the kids. So my parents and I took him home so that the kids could still have a puppy just from a distance until he was old enough for them. They chose the name "Copper".
Copper can prove to be a little "naughty" according to his vet and her vet techs. He is cute but very shy with the people he doesn't know. He likes to chomp on EVERYTHING!

So now he lives here with us where we spoil him rotten.
Even though he can be very naughty #badboycopper, we enjoy his company very much and love him very much too.. Plus, he keeps us on our toes (constantly picking up his messes.)

Welcome To My Blog!

Hi-llo (hi and hello) everyone and welcome to my blog! I decided to create this BlogSpot, it has always been on my mind and finally one night (tonight) I was like why not?.. This blog will hopefully be a space to express myself and share my life well a piece of it at least. Something I've recently had to realize is we only have one chance at life and we should live it to the fullest no matter what life throws our way as long as we have our family and friends by our side we can conquer the world one day at a time(; So that being said I will be posting hopefully as much as possible. My posts will be on my life and the activities that take place there in. I hope you all enjoy the journey as much as I do.
